AIEMA holds the ACMEE 2023 in the climate of a rebound in domestic production!

On 15 – 19 June 2023, ACMEE 2023, India’s premier international exhibition of machine tools, will be held at the Trade Centre, Chennai, by the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA). The ACMEE focuses on exhibiting the latest in machine tool technology with a view to helping industry modernize and promoting investment in the country.

The ACMEE 2023 will be inaugurated by Thiru R. N. Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu in the presence of Thiru Satyakam Arya, Managing Director & CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd and Thiru Satish Sadasivan, Managing Director, Schunk Intec India Pvt. Ltd.

The objective of ACMEE ‘23 is to provide an opportunity for industry to see the latest in machine tools and manufacturing technology from all over the world. The theme for ACMEE 2023 is Smart Manufacturing, the third edition in a row that it is having the same theme.

Economic outlook
There has been a strong rebound in domestic production with annual growth rates – as per the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) – becoming positive in FY2021-’22 after showing a negative growth in FY2020-’21 due to the pandemic. This has resulted in positive outlook in sectors like Capital Goods, Electronics and the Automotive industry where domestic output and exports are expected to increase rapidly in the coming few years.

The direct impact on the Indian machine tool industry – the production in the industry has seen an estimated 40% year-on-year growth in FY 2021 –’22 and the consumption of the industry has seen an estimated 30% year-on-year growth in FY 2021–’22. The user sectors that are showing demand for machine tools are Infrastructure, Aerospace, Defence, Railways, Power and Process industries.

Mr. K. Sai Sathya Kumar, Chairman, ACMEE 2023, in his address said, “We are conducting ACMEE 2023 in a business climate that is bound to result in strong interest from industry. This exhibition will enable entrepreneurs to see the latest in machine tools and production technology from all over the world and help their efforts to move towards Smart Manufacturing, adopt smart solutions and contribute directly to the Make in India campaign. There will be live demonstrations, product launches and technical sessions that will help our industrialists get exposed to the possibilities in the market.”

Smart Manufacturing is a combination of various technologies and solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cybersecurity, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and blockchain that are implemented into a manufacturing ecosystem to optimize manufacturing processes by generating and/or accepting data. The focus is the use of information technology in machinery to monitor production processes, automate manufacturing and the use of data analytics to improve manufacturing processes.

ACMEE 2023 will have 435 participants as compared to 395 companies that took part in ACMEE 2021. There will be a net exhibition area of around 11,000 square meters, spread across seven halls and will feature 105 international brands. We expect participation from firms in Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Turkey, UK and the USA. We also expect to generate business worth Rs 650 crore.,” said Mr. P. S. Ramesh, Convenor, ACMEE 2023

The growth of ACMEE, as an event, is reflected in the increasing numbers across the years in terms of participating countries, firms, visitors and volume of business conducted.

“We will set up a Finance Lounge where there will be a number of major financial institutions participating to help businesses obtain finance for their purchases at the event. They are Indian bank, South Indian Bank, ICICI Bank Ltd, SIDBI, Sundaram Finance Ltd, Siemens Finance Services, Electronica Finance Ltd and Ezlease Ventures Pvt Ltd” added Mr. K. Sai Sathya Kumar.

ACMEE 2023 will also feature an International Buyers – Exhibitors Meet on 16th and 17th June ‘23. Being held under the auspices of EEPC India, and supported by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, the organizers are expecting 30 international buyers of engineering goods to participate.
